    Default Remodeled Antique Quilt

My MIL had a quilt top that was pieced by her grandmother in the 1940's . . . Our best guess. When we got it out and started inspecting it, we found several areas that had holes in them, from dry rot or bugs, but there was a good bit of good quilt left. After thinking about it, we decided to take the best blocks and create some wall hangings from the good blocks. It had been machine pieced, but the sewing was not the best and some of the stitches were teeny. But after two days, we got the individual blocks and the sashing separated. I pieced four blocks and some of the sashing for each of three wall hangings. . . One for my MIL and one for each of her two sisters. All the fabric except for the solid border and binding came from the original flimsy. Just got them in the mail yesterday. I hope they like them. Certainly not show quilts, but sentimental for them.

I concur with all the above comments. Exceptional creativity and work on your part! It's a great way to love a quilt a bit longer.
