I hope those who have posted will check back here because I want to tell you all that the background fabric is a surprise to everyone in the workshop that I teach on this quilt. Wish I had a way to photograph for you.
It's a large - about 10" - FISH! in pinks, lavenders whites, pastels - nothing "pretty" about it at all!!
But it works for the BEST muckled up background in this quilt and was the theme print from which I pulled the other colors about 18-20 years ago when I first started this quilt. It was a UFO until about 2 years ago.
As is so often the case with my quilts, it is actually very simple to make, easy shapes, easy borders, just 4 colors not counting the narrow border. Maybe I'll post the border directions in the ebook I hope to write this summer.

I could look at your quilts and everyone's on here. Three four etc times. At quilt shows keep going around looking at quilts and take picture to look at mad on other people's quilts. Keep posting.

Well now, all on this board, including me, now know not only that you are an excellent quilter (well, we all already knew that by the amazing information you post on a regular basis) by the photo of your mosaic star quilt, but you also keep your promises! Thanks so much for the picture, Jan. I am going to tell my quilt guild about you!
