What size template did you use? Was it hard to follow the directions?
I used a 3" finished square. Your directions were great! I had a little trouble working out the 30 deg points (are they 30? I mean the ones with the point across one corner!) but I got there in the end! But then, maths is not my strong point! :D

If I did the directions right you shouldn't have to figure any math.
You sew the two. Cut an angle(don't remember the degree) and sew on the third fabric. Cut with template.

Where did you have a problem with the math? If I need to change something it is good to know so the next person doesn't have the same problem.

The only other thing I know can be a problem sometimes is sewing the blocks together so you don't lose any points. Mine aren't always where they should be either.

No I didn't mean the star points - the other ones on the outer edge where there's just one point across a corner.
And yes I did a bit of jiggery pokery when joining the squares to get the points true!

I guess I am not following you but that is alright as long as you got it figured out and you did! It turned out gorgeous!

The outer points of light blue on the dark that I thought was floppy. Instead of an acute point between two other swatches, there's a block with just two swatches - the point goes across one corner and when you put two blocks together it makes a triangle.

I have never named it and as far as I know it is an original by me. I have not researched it however so it may be out there some where. If anyone ever sees it anywhere else I would love to know.

Sometimes you dream something up and someone else had the same idea!

Oh I'm with you now! I am a visual person! I can hear something and it doesn't make sense unless I can see it. I went back and looked at your star.
I do need to give directions for making that particular type of block where you don't add the third swatch. Thanks for pointing that out!!
