Ribbon Box Quilt
#32
I just completed this quilt yesterday, haven't washed it yet but can't wait to see the crinkliness emerge after doing so, it's the main reason I chose the Hobbs 80/20 batting and white muslin for the backing (with no prewashing of anything).
I have to say I was so impressed with the economy of the pattern, unless your fabric prints are very directional you can use a fat quarter for most of the ribbons, I had to use yardage for a couple as two needed a slight bit more fabric but the batiks and solids are FQs and had no trouble keeping the pattern running in the same direction (though I didn't have to match as with a stripe or plaid). I did add two extra rows because I wanted this for the back of my sofa and needed it to be longer, it finished out at 55" W x 70" L.
Since Dina's purple Ribbon Box quilt inspired me to bump this pattern to the top of my list, I added purple/lavender to the turquoise/blues and greens and used a tone on tone white for maximum contrast. Thanks for looking (and thanks Dina, I love this quilt!).
