    Thank you everyone for your ideas. My inspiration was from http://www.agapethreads.com/ - very talented young lady! Here is the finished Duvet for my sweet little hippie in NC. It is made completely out of different leveled cords...

    Tree really stands out without the ring - the black would have been distracting IMHO. Never would have thought to use corduroy ~ very nice!
