feathers, i love the part about your little grandson loving to snuggle. i have a snuggly grandson, too. he is 16 now and thinks he is too big to do much snuggling with nana. but we spent many hours snuggling and reading or watching one of his videos. enjoy him, you are lucky to have each other.

LOVE- LOVE - LOVE the scrappy quilts. I need to do this to use up all my scraps. But I strongly dislike half square triangles. Just don't know if I could make that many.lol

I forgot to ask how you are going to quilt them. That is something I have a hard time deciding. Guess I just haven't been quilting long enough yet.

Well, Feathers, you have met the 2008 Scrappy Quilt Challenge X 2 !!!

Great job! Both are excellent and I like the HST border. Did you make it from trimming and saving the scraps there too?

I like them very much. Can't wait to see what others post for the Challenge as well.

Bdor, you don't "Make" the half square triangles special for this ...you SAVE all the half SQ triangles from every other project you've made in your life and when you have a bunch, sew them together and Joila! you have a sashing.

    Quiltmaker:
I don't know about the 2008 Challenge. I guess I'd better try to find out about it. Would I find it on the MAIN board? The border is from all the HST from all the projects I've ever made. If I wanted another color or added a scrap that wasn't in the HST bag, I'd make up one or two with that fabric but like DBor...I HATE to make the HST just to be making them but I'll SAVE them whenever I can.

DBor, you asked how I would quilt it. Haven't quilted it yet but think I'll do a stitch the ditch again as I'm having some success with that right now.

Thank you all for the nice comments. My head swelleth!

I do like these quilts! Gives me an idea of how to use my "extra pieces."
    Thanks for posting the pictures.

    Both quilts are wonderful!

Please forgive the total "newbie" question, but how did you come to arrangements of the colors? Was it a carefully thought out thing? Or did you just kind of put them together and went with what looked good? (I ask because I'm having the hardest time choosing complimenting colors and finding a nice way to arrange them...)

    Hi Rising Pheonix:
Welcome to the Board. You will just love all the folks on this board and you will have INFINITE help from hundreds of people as near as your keyboard.

    Your questions:
My scrappy quilts are completely random. I tried NOT to put colors next to each other that screamed at each other but that's about it. I was told when I was a newbie to NOT OVER THINK a scrap quilt so I don't!

No question is a dumb question UNLESS IT ISN'T ASKED! Ask your questions because we're all here to help.

On a quilting scale of 1 to 10...10 being the artist/ best quilter on Board I'd fall in the area of about a 3 or 4! I tend to like beginner projects but have done intermediate and advanced quilts. Like the begin/intermediates the best. As a new quilter, you may not know that every quilt you make will teach you TONS for the next project. Each project allows you to see your growth and improvement and that's always wonderful. Also, being able to show your work and maybe having a few OHHHS and AHHHHS and helpful critiques (when you ask for them) also helps you learn.

Welcome, look forward to meeting you on the board often.
