    I didn't see anyone else answer your question as to cutting out the back, so here's my take on it. I have always cut out the back and it does make the top lay flatter and easier to quilt through.

    I LOVE this!! As i've said before, the Dresden is my favorite pattern. I've only used the 6" wedge so far, but am going to try this myself. Thank you for sharing!!

    I love, love, love everything about this project of yours! The colors/fabrics are beautiful! Dresden Plate has always been one of my favorites & I've made quite a few. I've never trimmed the fabric underneath the plates but then again, mine weren't as large as yours.
