    What do you mean by long stitch? I haven't heard that term before.

    you use pearl cotton and make very big stitches like a big running stitch about a quarter inch apart

    Love that fabric! I am an avid reader today thanks to Dick and Jane. When my granddaughter was struggling to read, I spent a summer tutoring her. We used the Dick and Jane series (they had just been reprinted) and we had so much fun. Thanks for the memories!
