Default Same block, different setting

Recently I posted pictures of a quilt that I had made for a grand daughter

I liked the the uniqueness of how I could set the blocks and create different looking tops and here is a pic of the basic block

So I headed to my stash, found enough fabrics and got to work on this top for my husband. I knew I wanted a different layout from the first quilt, so this is what I came up with. Sort of eclectic , but I am happy with it. It will be a summer weight king size quilt when it is finished with some borders

Love the 3D effect you get on some of this quilt.

Great job working with one block and coming up with different looks. I can't tell you how often I have made blocks according to a pattern and then re-arranged them so they don't resemble the original quilt. It's great fun.
