This is a really kool quilt. I have been wanting to make a sampler with stars. My question is how did you figure how much fabric that you would need. Did you just get a lot of different shades of a certain color? Not sure if I am making myself clear. I really don't want to purchase any more fabric if I can help it. My stash is too big as it is, and I want to pare it down. I looks to me as if most of the blocks are solid, am I wrong. BrendaK

I started with a yard of a couple of background cream fabrics that were very close in colour but one had a pattern and one was plain. The coloured fabrics were fat quarters in rust- rose, yellow- gold, sage-lt.green. I collected 12 inch star patterns I liked and used fabric scraps from my stash where needed. I think the yellow star fabric and last border were 3 yards and the green sashing 2 yards. I wish I could tell you more but it was about 6 years ago and the details are kind of sketchy.
