Sashiko Bunnies

Taa-daa!
My first attempt at doing sashiko. They look like bunny slippers. I think I shall have to do another project now that this one is progressing. This is only the top. Quilting to follow! Then a small red binding. I just couldn't wait to share with you though.
Fun project for you all to try. Marcella bought our projects at the Shibori Dragon store in Lakewood, Wa. You can visit it at

Steve,
I think my only suggestion would be to use an embroidery hoop when doing your sashiko. I tried it both with and without and when I worked without the hoop I tended to pull my stitches up to tight and had gathers. It's a pleasant way to spend an evening while watching re-runs on the tele. I spent a few $$ at Shibori Dragon yesterday and have a new project on it's way. Another strangely adictive craft! Just what I needed!!!

I am trying to stop with quilting being my last addictive craft. I already do ceramic painting, have wanted to do somemore leather tooling, coppertooling, copper enameling, & macrame. As well as I need to do some just plain sewing and also learn how to use my serger. Just not enough daylight and for some reason I have to take time to eat and sleep. Also the family thinks they have to be fed too!

Deb,
We need to start a new thread where people can list all the crafts they don't get to do any more since quilting took over their lives. I finally cleared out a bunch of craft stuff this summer. I decided if I wanted to do them again I'd go get new and the stores can be my 'storage' system for the time being! Meanwhile, I have a needlepoint project 1/3 done and a crocheted baby blankie 1/2 done. My other problem is that I'm a reader and that sucks the hours right out of the middle of the day! Then there is the flowers and the computer stuff and ... the list goes on and on and ...
