    Because the students were very young we first used plain paper so the children could practice tracing. Then they colored in their “take home practice” piece. Step two was to have them use fabric markers and “recreate” their design. I loved their creativity. Each group had only about 40 mins. to make the practice sheet and the real block. We even had time to read a soft covered book about a young girl and her grandmother’s quilt. The experience was awesome!
