A very quick ..... How to make a Bulls Eye Block

Hi Gals...... until I find a pattern link of you I wanted to simply let you know a few of the steps I did to make this quilt.

    The blocks are 12" blocks

    1) Simply cut your background squares 12" -- Black was my choice, I have seen many photos of scrappie background squares

    2) Your circles will be 10", 7", and 4"

    3) An easy way to mark the center of your Background Square is to simply fold in half, then half again & crease. This will give you lines & I simply put a pin in the center.

    4) Fold the large circle in 1/4's & crease to find the center.

    5) Matching centers pin the large circle on the top of background square.

    6) Simply stitch on the RIGHT side of the fabric around the large circle --- this indeed is raw edge applique & you will have 1/4" raw edge seem on your circle.

    7) Turn the Block over --- you are now looking at the BACK of the fabric. Carefully cut away the black background fabric from inside the stitched circle.

This is important because it eliminates excess bulk from your blocks!!!! (Plus.... gives you MORE scraps to use)

    8) Now.... repeat the process using the Med. sized 7" circle. Match centers, Pin, stitch around the edge, turn over & carefully trim away the background fabric.

    9) Time for the last little 4" circle..... repeat all steps.

Now for some even MORE fun.....

    10) Cut each 12" block in half, and then cut in half again so you have 4 blocks

    11) Have fun mixing up all your blocks and then sewing them back together to total random fashion!!

Hope this helps explain the process --- which is really, really easy. Just remember to trim away the background piece each time. Now..... go play with your scraps!
