Here's my latest finish -- the pattern was called "Snail's Trail Al Fresco", but the snail's trail blocks remind me of a Court Jester's cap.
I wanted to challenge myself in two ways -- first, piecing the blocks and Not losing any points. Because of the bulk at the points, I pressed the major seams open, so there was no nesting when assembling the rows . That meant lots of pinning and matchy-matchy ... not my favorite way to work! Second, when I quilted on my longarm, I wanted to do something interesting, Judy Madsen-style, in the negative space. The border was the biggest challenge.
