    actually, if you cut the block in half horizontally, you start with 3 little blocks, then add two below them, then 1 on each side, then 2 below, then one strip on the left as the last piece. when you add two sections of blocks together, they are offset b/c your last addition was one strip on the left....
    it's made a little different than a regular log cabin, but still gives the same effect...
