Scrappy Quilt Top - "Brilliant"
I have recently finished this scrappy top which has been in the works for many months. I have named it Brilliant. It will be a gift for a wonderful young man when he earns his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering in December.
The blocks are 5". The squares are 1". Inspired from a Jill Reid pattern in a 2009 Quilters Newsletter magazine called "Remembering Rebecca." The designer used Civil War prints and an elaborate swag border. I used brighter colors from my stash and simplified the border.
The first picture, taken in natural sunlight, is indicative of the colors, although the borders were not sewn on at the time. The second picture shows the borders, but slightly diluted colors. Also shown is my first block of the project.
It is Full size.
i will need to readjust one border slightly before sending it to be quilted.
