hi crafty deb, you would accumulate lots of scraps if, like me you were totally math challenged. i tend to decide on a quilt that i want to make then proceed to cut and stitch without bothering to calculate the total amount of fabric i will need. so i invariably have strips of each fab i use in the quilt left over. (i buy for my stash, not for a project so i buy several yds of every fabric that i like.) i just pretty much fly by the seat of my pants when it comes to creating a quilt. so my stash of scraps is humongous. :wink: :wink: :wink: good thing i love scrappy quilts.lol

pvquilter, thanks for the kind words. no pattern here, i just sew strings together until it is as long as i want the quilt to be then start on the next row. i pay little attention to colors or whether the fab is seasonal or anything but i do pay a little attention to value.

Very nice. I just started a braid quilt. A friend gave me a huge stash of
2" 30's repreduction fabrics so I started making a braid quilt. I really like how you did yours. Mine is actually in my UFO pile. I put it away for awhile to do something else then something came up and something after that so seeing yours makes me want to get back going on mine.

Nanabird your quilt is beautiful....I too fly by the seat of my pants when buying fabric and creating my designs (so glad I'm not alone in this...I feel a little guilty about it sometimes!). Always wondered about incorporating my love of embroidery into a quilt stitch. The name Turkey Tracks is a nice name for this stitch, I learned this stitch when I was young, and it was called Fly Stitch. Anyway, thank you for the great pictures and the mini-lesson....you have inspired me and many others I'm sure. Happy quilting.
