This reminds me of the opposite ending of a fable I once heard. An old man who was a carpenter wanted to retire. A frequent customer asked if he could do one more job for him. It was a big job, as the customer wanted the man to build him a house. He agreed, but he did not put his heart into it. He did a mediocre job and often cut corners just to get one last check before he retired in peace. When he was finished, he went to his client to get paid. After paying him, the customer told him, "I have something else for you. Here's the keys to the house. You've done such good work for me over the years, this last house you were building was for you."
He had no idea he was actually building his own house. He ended up with not such a great house, but Harriet, you ended up with an absolutely fabulous quilt. Enjoy it, and be sure to post pictures of it hanging at the fair!
