Don't know what the original pattern looked like but you certainly made some good choices for the changes you made. The fans make a nice contrast to all the log-cabins... I think this is beautiful!

Your version of the quilt is gorgeous as everyone has said. I like the way you brought your own panache to the quilt by adding elements that are uniquely you. I plan on doing the same. I like your fans very much so will steal that idea from you once i get to those blocks and figure out what sized blocks I need to make. 
Changing up the middle block really makes it pop in my mind. You did a good job and let me thank you for sharing the pattern with us. I found it on Fort Worth Quilters, they have all 5 months up. I am going to change all that white to black and the black to white. So mine will be even more different than yours just from the colorways. Thank you again for sharing.
