I wish I could hand quilt like that NOW after about 8 years practice!!! :D

I'm so sorry about your arthritis - all the women on my mother's side end up with arthritis in their hands so I'm really hoping I got my hand genes from my Dad!

WOW! Some fantastic first time results!! I have no idea where mo first quilt would be... gave it to an old boyfriend and both he and the quilt disappeared about 30 years ago!

But I do have a sweet little crib quilt that I made for Ryan when he was born 26 years ago. It is hand-embroidered alphabet squares. I'll look and see if it is in his closet and take a pic of it... when I get out of bed. The laptop and I are snuggled away for the day. My first illness since retiring... sore throat and cough.

My favorite sore throat cure before I stopped drinking: hot tea with lemon and rum or scotch! It worked, but it gave me migraines, so now I use Airborne, Theraflu or Sudafed.

Quiltncrazy, I have to smile when I read your comment. I was 18yrs. old and was in a Woolworth's store that no longer exists and I was looking for some pillowcases to embroider. Saw a package of squares to do instead and I said sure why not!!! Little did I know it would take me over 2 years. I found it at my Mom's this past week cleaning out my hope chest to leave with my DD. I had to laugh when I looked at the picture before I posted it. Up until then I had never realized that I didn't do complete borders around all the squares and I used a 2" border to bind. Oh boy was I a novice quilter or what. Live and learn from my mistakes was something my Mom would say. LOL

If you could see a very close up shot of the hand quilting you would nod your head and say that's nice........ LOL..... I'm smiling because my first quilt stitches I did according to the dots on the square. I thought they had to be sewn from dot to dot!!!LOL The dots were over 1/4 inch apart!!!LOL Like I said. This quilt was a definite learning experience!!!

Gk, your first quilt reminds me of some old song:
    stars shining brightly above you,
    Birds whispering, ......I love you,
    something, something.
Dream a little dream of me.
    :D

I like those stars! Did you happen to name it?
