Well I've been searching for this thread so I could add a picture of the first top - yes top! still unquilted to this day almost 18 months on.
I attended a workshop for the famous D9Patch, with Jenny Almond she was so sweet.
Have to say I loved making this, just need to get my bottom into gear & get it finished.

Now do you think it still requires another border say of navy or a navy marble fabric, all suggestions gratefully received.

I love that Tisha! If you really feel the need for another border, I'd say the navy, otherwise you could just bind it in the navy - I like to use dark for bindings because I think it really frames the quilt. Ohh - just had anothr look - blue and yellow - I LOVE it!

My first was called "Treasured Hearts" and it's from the Quilts, Quilts, Quilts! book (can't recall the author, too lazy to get up and look at the moment!). Anyway, it's queen sized, and I appliqued so many hearts using freezer paper that I swore I'd never make a heart again. It's at my MIL's as it was gift for her (I love her, I'm a lucky DIL). I'll get over there soon and snap a photo to post.

    Great thread!!

I started this in about 1966 or so, taking the tiny scraps that my mother would allow me to have because they were too tiny to use. It took me several summers to make. Then I hated it so much that I poked it away at Mother's house. My sister finished it for my daughter a couple of years ago for her birthday (they have the same birthday). I still don't care for it much, but it's really fun to look at the cloth and find things that our clothing was made from . Like "do you remember this skirt? or I had a dress from this one".

It's a huge queen size. Roman stripe.

Wow Sara - that's fantastic! And great to have the family history in it too!

Sara, I love your quilt. It's very bright, cheery and holds lots and lots of memories. Excellent!

I took a class in 1993 and the shop had me pick out the fabric and I had no idea what blocks would be used. I was never very happy with the outcome too white.

The first one is a picture of my first quilt, well, my recent first quilt, anyway. I made my very first one about 30 years ago, a crazy quilt with my mom, but that's not around anymore :(
