This is my first ever. I didn't even know what quilting was or that it exist. Just wanted to make two blankets for my children.
I love to see everones first, thank you for starting this.

My aunt was a quilter from the early 1900's--all by hand and scissors. I grew up with many of her quilts and really appreciated quilting. Nevertheless I never took up quilting until after she died. This is my first, made for my first grandchild, a boy. He is now 10 and I gave it to him when he was 2.
I got into quilting after that. I'd think about that first quilt and think how awful it was. Then I saw it again after a few years and thought, "Hey that wasn't too bad."
I was over there the other day and he still uses it on his bed. My DD said, "We haven't washed it once!"
Last summer, he and I made a quilt together (second picture). The camera didn't take a very good picture. Next time I've over there I'll have to take one again.

Wow! All these quilts are wonderful. Although I have been sewing all my life, I haven't really been a quilter, unless you count the ones I made for my dolls. I've made some blocks and working up my nerve to start really quilting.

My hubby took a picture(s) of my first quilt, but it is buried in amongst all the other pictures he's taken... somewhere on one of his external drives...he takes pictures at car shows and motorcycle runs, etc. and has gazillions of pictures.
I did not have a pattern for it per se, just let the design of the fabrics dictate the size of the pieces. I think the center squares were about 4-5 inches, rectangle pieces surrounding centers about 2 inches or so, squares in corners cut to fit, then sashing about same width and corner squares to match it as well. Was a really 'girly' nap quilt for a friend's granddaughter's birthday. The pale pink & blue, lavendar & white fabrics had been a very small part of the little girl's great grandmother's stash. It was pieced and quilted by hand, tied with satin ribbons...too scant seams had to be restitched in a few months, as it was used in a family with a little brother and a puppy!

I took a class in 2002 and this is what I pieced. I've been hand quilting it, but it still isn't done. I know it will get done one day.
Sampler quilt, still not finished
