Here is my most recently finished project. It was done for my little brother (hence the quilt name, that and scarred the quilt due to a moment of impatience and lack of desire to fix an issue ;). It also led to some rivalry with his fiance when he refused to share and cuddle under the warm flannel! This was my first foray into machince quilting the top, I usually have tied. On to the next 4 or 5 projects!

    The colors head to head!

The comfy flannel backing and my first machine quilted top!

    The whole she-bang.

GOOD job, and I love the colors, I've never seen an ugly blue so any thing blue has my vote. I've never made a flannel quilt but they sure look nice, I may just have to try one.

OK I am jealous of the straight matching blocks. Iv'e been making quilts for two years and still fight with matching blocks. Had to get a 1/4 foot so I could have a half way consist seam. LOL
I could certainly learn for you, thanks for sharing and challenging me to do better.

I have found that making blocks match up are 2 ways. First you have to pin to match up seams. Also I put a piece of masking tape on my throat plate mearsuing just a hair or two less than 1/4 inch. Works for me.

What kind of finish is that you did to the edges? It looks like that silky blanket edging. Your quilt is really pretty. I wish I could get the hang of machine quilting; of course I have been quilting for a few years and still don't have it down pat whether I quilt by machine or hand. I'll keep trying though. I enjoy it to much to quit now. :-)

It took me a bit to get the feel for matching up the seams (I still have my moments), but I just had to get the feel for that slip of the seams lining up. That and I have to make sure to trim each block down so they are all the same size. Good luck!
