Ever since last Summer, my now 9 year old grandson had been waiting to get his 'birthday quilt', after watching all the ones before his get theirs. He had went through several ideas of what pattern, etc he wanted, and then decided on a Smiley Face one! (he's also the one who had recently started to learn to machine sew right before my DH surgery, and reminds me frequently that he's ready to get back to it! lol!!!)

He drew it out on paper, then made me the patterns to use for the applique. On the label I put:
    Design and pattern by Caleb
    Pieced and quilted by Grandma

This is also the one I had issues with, trying to FMQ it using invisible thread! I finally just stitched it in the ditches, and went around the faces.

He thought it was way cool! lol!!!!!
