I think it would make a lovely quilt.

That's the secret - trim those seams to 1/4", but does cause more waste, but also still uses the precut layer cake and two blocks from each.....

I think the blocks are perfect. Would make a beautiful quilt.

Shar jorgensen of quilting from the heartland, has acrylic templates that make a 6 1/2" snail trail, but her version doesn't have the 4 patch center-has 1 square instead. I have them in my template stash, experiment time! Should be able to get 2 blocks out of each layer cake with less trimming....

Tartan those blocks are really nice, too bad you don't want to at least make a table runner. Love your fabric! I made the Snail Trail block years ago with Eleanor Burns no template required.

I haven't tried the block from MSQC but I really love her design. Not really sure why others don't like it but I guess when I try it, I'll find out. I do really love your block Tartan, it's great.

I didn't care for those little stuck out corners on Jenny's Snail Trail either. Now I found out how to fix that. Thanks Tartan. When I make mine (if I make mine), I think I will cut the triangles a little smaller so there is less to trim away.

Perfectly done, Tartan. Glad you took the time to figure it out, but it's not for me. I'm into patterns that go together quickly and without adjustments. Your fabrics are lovely!
