The purple 30s fabric with little white motifs and the dark purple fabric was sent ot me a while ago by butterflywing and I wanted to do something special with it - it went perfectly (I think!) with the calico which I got in Holland. It's machine quilted - zig zag over the seams and swirls (like a snail's shell) on the border and in the open spaces of the calico snails.

It's a throw for our little purple sofa which has suffered at the hand (or rather claws!) of the cat. The kitty in the picture is Pépite, our newest quilt inspector. :D
LOVE the pattern!! the colors are so nice and I especially like the combination you used..........any chance you can post where you got the pattern?

I saw the layout online somewhere, sorry, I didn't save the link. I did the layout in Quilt Wizard with the blocks at 8" finished. Here's a pic of the layout. The block patterns are available on quilter's cache, she call's the snail trail 'monkey wrench'. Only here they finish at 12". Hope this is helpful.

Marvelous quilt - I love the two blocks together. The snails border the ladders well. Very nice!! Such a cute kitty :-D

Looks great. I love both of those patterns, but never thought to put them together. Combined they turn into a wonderful quilt.

    Thank you everyone! :-D

Pépite just came back from the vets where she had her first shots - she's a bit subdued to say the least, and I think she's got a sore throat because she's uncharacteristically silent!
