I too, like the homemade more meaningful gifts. It shows you put a lot of thought and effort into each special gift. I always make some gifts from "Nana'a Boutique" and everyone seems thrilled to receive them. This year I did themed aprons for each girl, including our DGD which matched her mom's, plus a sewing pouch with all kinds of goodies included. My DD, who is on a tight budget, made all her gifts this year: homemade cocoa with homemade marshmallows, vanilla extract and vanilla sugar, and succulent terrariums for all the families. My son did a silhouette of our DGD for me, and my husband matted and framed a print for our son. We ALL get in the homemade mood and love it !

Oh, gracious me! I should have given credit! This is the tute that I had as a base idea, and I stretched it a little.

http://tatteredgarden.blogspot.com/2...-tutorial.html Thanks for asking, happy to give credit where it is due. Even my brother-in-law thought it was kind of cool, how the measuring tape makes the purse snap shut. And to get praise out of him is close to a miracle! LOL

Happy New Year to your family and I hope things start to looking up for you in the new year.

My hubby made the step stool for the 5 year old grandson who when they first began talking about Christmas in November said "when I was little" (don't you love when kids do that??), that he remembered he had a step stool that opened up and he didn't know what happened to it, but he really missed it, and he began crying - real tears and was just broken hearted thinking of the item he had lost (it broke and got thrown away). So, of course, hubby had to make him a new one, much stronger and in colors for his bedroom. He was so happy!

Did you see I answered this above? Glad people are pointing out that I over looked giving credit. I have also seen (but now can't find, little wallets, with zipper fronts, and the snappy top. I saw suggested to add the Prarie Points as pull tabs to make them easier to open.

I just bought a tape measure from Dollar Tree it was 16'. I figured these purses had a little less than 12" on each side, so one tape measure would make 8 purses! Not bad cost huh - 12.5 cents per purse!

I love all these ideas! My daughter did jar mixes of a couple different cookies for everyone at church, topped with burlap square, twine bow and a wooden snowflake ornament. Everyone loved them (and the cookies are yummy - we got Oatmeal Cranberry with Pumpkin Seeds)!

I love the "Nana's Boutique" idea!
I have boxes with the kids names on them, and when they come over (one kid every other Sunday afternoon), we continue a project that we have been working on. The oldest girl (almost 12) is making a patriotic log cabin throw for her great-grandma. The oldest boy (almost 13) is also working on a quilt, but I cannot remember what it is at the moment (good thing the box is marked with his name!). The younger ones haven't got any long term projects going at the moment, but we always work on something!
