Yes it was...is a lot of work, but no more that all the ones that are pieced. The only down side I can see of applique is the fact that you have to buttonhole stitch everything, but my new machine does that perfectly now, but its not hard to do.

I looooove applique especially hand applique. I have never buttonhole stitched my applique, I have always done the needle turn method. Between your quilt and the Snowman applique I saw earlier this morning I reeeeally want to do a full size applique quilt now.

Go for it, really lovely to do and very relaxing if you hand do it, but I can´t needle turn, have tried once and thought not for me.
