I am a pretty advanced quilter but I feel really stupid right now. Trying to understand...all of the figures are completely embroidered and there is no fused applique? How do you get the pieces to look like printed fabric?

I give it a second try to add also a question: which embroidery machine do you have and would your friend sell the pattern?

It is fabric. I use stitch witchery under the fabric and after the machine goes around it I trim the fabric close to the stitiching and then the next stitch my embroidery machice does is the satin stitch around the applique piece. I press each block after I get the design done to set the stitch witchery into the fabric.

I have the Brother 4000D which I did these on. I also have the BabyLock EMP6 which is an embroidery only 6 needle machine. The pattern is mine that I bought. My friend just took my pattern pieces and digitized them so I could do them on the embroidery machine.

Okay, it's getting clearer. The process of digitizing and embroidery replaced the machine applique using a blanket stitch or zig-zag stitch, yes? How clever, then you don't have to applique every little teeny tiny piece separately!
