I agree with you about all the rules on quilting patterns. I have never agreed with them, very seldom are there any original designs. They just used what came before them, and call it an original.

Your Quilts are beautiful and I love the colors and the design.

How wonderful that you are so creative! There are many of us who are not so talented though...that's who the patterns and directions are created for! I appreciate your willingness to share.

BTW, the black/white/red one is my favorite! :o)

I love your ideas and quilts! I'm partial to the chocolate and teal one, as well.

I've been following these threads on copywrite issues - yikes! What happened to the origins of quilting - using up what you have and sharing? I don't think it will ever be an issue for me since a) I don't buy or subscribe to the uptight magazines b) I tend to use up whatever fabric and scraps I have (translate cheap!) in my own placement of blocks and c) I have no desire to follow someone else's pattern exactly

Let's just create and have fun!

[quote=JJs]All this talk of copyrighted patterns and designers and asking permission to show a quilt...
Ok, granted these are run-of-the-mill quilts - nothing fancy or majorly eye-catching, but the point I'm trying to make is: DESIGN YOUR OWN! quote]

    Amen to that.
I have never copied anyone elses quilt. I love to look at them but in the end I like making my own to represent what's in my mind not others. Not to say that some of my blocks aren't cut the trtitional way, as most of them are but the over all designs of my quilts are mine.

I love doing things MY WAY. It makes for an original. I may get inspiration or even some ideas on colors or placement from pictures, magazines, books, etc but in the end it is an original when I finish.

I also love to do things my way! Not like someone else. The quilts I have made have been done my way! I do often sketch it out on graph paper first. But it is my way!
