Exactly!!! What a kind and wonderful neighbor you are. I would love to see the kid's faces when they get their quilts. Nice colours, nice patterns, thank you sew much for sharing with us too.

My sweet little neighbor, Karsyn, came to my sewing room and I taught her to make a quilt the summer of 2009. She was eight at the time. I didn't let her cut with the rotary cutter or iron, other than that she did it all, including the quilting on my ancient longarm machine that drives like a dump truck. She made a little bitty 15 x 24. Then she made a lap quilt and then a twin sized quilt. All for herself. Before she went back to school, she made a twin size for her brother. Once school started, she came over after school and on weekends and made a lap quilt for her grandmother who had cancer and has since died.

Karsyn enjoyed making the quilts but I got the blessing. I love that kid.
The girls (age 9 & 12) have asked if I will help them make something so I hope to make work with them to make matching pillow cases this winter. And I feel like the lucky neighbor. We've beeen here 3 years and we have wonderful neighbors all around us, but these kids are extra special.

What great back to school gifts. They may even get interested in the quilting process.
