What she paid for the fabric has NOTHING to do with what you should charge for your time. A quilt in which the fabric cost $25 takes just as long as the one where the fabric cost $500. Not your problem. But you need to be fairly compensated. Look around at how other skilled people are paid. Your mechanic, the plumber , even the kid who mows the lawn get $30 an hour! Why shouldn't quilters, when we have a skill others need? I know, I know, we hate to charge our friends! But unless you want to end up making quilts for a pittance, CHARGE WELL for your time! Because, she will probably tell everyone that you made this gorgeous quilt for ONLY $(whatever), and then you have another bunch of problems to deal with.
