    The fabric combo you've chosen is really striking.
    Leave it for a day and then come back and give the center another try.

    One trick I've used when sewing the sections together is to NOT sew all the way to the center. I stop at the 1/4" mark - just like you would on a y-seam. That way you don't have all that fabric bunching up and causing an issue by all coming together. You might have a teeny tiny hole in the center, but 2 hand stitches and it's closed.

    That said, I've also been known on occasion - cough, cough - to use a very fine point Sharpie/Pigma pen to mask a similar situation by making it less noticeable.
