    No need to get on you knees to sandwich the quilt for your MIL, just google "basting quilts with the board method". It is an excellent tute using boards to layer your quilt and bind it securely. I will never get down on the floor again to baste my quilts. This works up to king size if you have a table top large enough. I will use tables at our local community center or church to do the big ones.
