As far as the time invested, if it is something that makes you happy, it is never a waste of time. The wonderful thing about quilting as a hobby is that, when you are done, you have a beautiful, useful item to enjoy for years to come, either by you or someone else. And just look how happy you have made us by posting a pic of your wonderful quilt!

This is beautiful, I've been trying to think of a good way to put the yellow/blue/white together for my sister as a surprise. Your design is perfect. Only 40 hours of hand quilting you are fast. It takes me a lot longer than that.
