    Do you think it would still look as pretty if the pieces were cut bigger so the quilt would end up bigger? 40 1/2 by 40 1/2 just doesn't seem big enough.

    I do, but it would be very square unless you add more squares at the bottom and top. It is a fun quilt to make. Play with it ;-)
