    Default Starfish Pixel Quilt

This is my fourth attempt at pixels. This is a better sized cross stitch pattern for a quilt. I extracted the starfish from my finished piece's pattern.
I wanted to use batik, but not patient enough to find shades of orange. It is a difficult color for that. I settled for the green batik with gold flecks for the background. The seafare border came from the 9 panels I used for a different kaleidoscope quilt!
Did I mention that I love my Q16?! For meandering on the starfish itself, I mapped it all out with washable marker so that I wouldn't get stuck. (The second pic is before washing out the marker.) I used my homemade stencil of a palm and 2 surfboards for the background. I just stenciled it scattered-type. I was brave enough for them to show, so I used peach thread. But not enough contrast to show in pic. Theeeen, I used my spiral shaped ruler for the outside border and metallic threads and twin needles for the limes.
I was planning to use my triple needle for the binding, but it simply would not go through the fabric. Oh, and I broke one of the twin needles while trying to FMQ. No wonder I couldn't find any TY videos about it! (I think I tugged too much and it hit the plate.)

Absolutely wonderful....looks fantastic from a few steps away. Oh, and the border really sets it off perfectly.

This is one beautiful quilt! I remember your other attempts using the cross stitch patterns but this one is the best. I love the shading on the starfish and the ocean background fabric. The border fabric really finishes it nicely too. A+

I love the starfish and the dimension that you have given it using this technique. What an incredible way to merge two wonderful hobbies! I can see using this technique to add names or personalization to quilts, runners, xmas stockings, and wall hangings. Thanks for giving my creative juices a burst of inspiration.
