The bag is lovely. I understand not thinking one is cut out for making complicated bags. There's one in my closet that is almost finished, but will never get done. Kudos to you for finishing! It will be very useful and gather many compliments.

You did a great job even if you had a few hiccups.
It wasn't hard, but it was complicated. I am also a garment sewer, and I had the devil of a time with the zippers - the instructions just didn't make sense. Thank goodness for my (very good) teacher! There is a good tutorial with lots of pictures on the Quilt Barn blog. The only thing really hard was keeping all the layers together smoothly for the final steps. It is an awful lot of layers and a real challenge to hold.

This is experience was enough to convince me not to go back and try again on "The ProfessionalTote" pattern I abandoned a couple of years ago :-)

Luv your bag and fabric!!....definitely understand the frustration since I have had it with every bag I made...taking a break now because my brain was beginning to smell like the worn out belt on the vacuum....LOL Started making them because I physically couldn't wrestle with a quilt and needed small projects....so it's good to have a back up you might really enjoy later down the road....

This is the link to the videos for making the Bionic Gear Bag. The pattern is by Sally Thompson and sold through Craftsy.

I really like your bag, especially how you used the buttons and put on the loops. Also, a good hint about the directional fabric. I usually don't think about that until after I cut the fabric and start piecing my project together.
