It started out as a "Sew Together" bag ...
Didn't quite end up as the standard one. I think I am just not cut out for doing these complicated bags! I started it in a class, and I pre-cut the pieces at home. Didn't cut enough of the "pockets" so I decided to wing it with 2 pockets instead of 3. That mean adapting the end "wings" and the length of the entire thing. Then I realized I really wasn't in the mood for the bound zipper. I figured a couple of antique buttons from my grandmother's stash would close it just fine.
One other note: Don't use a directional fabric for your first time on a pattern. I cut those wings out wrong twice!

The pattern name is Sew Together by Sew Demented. The pattern is widely available at quilt shops or Craftsy, and it was all the rage on the blogosphere last summer and fall. The "real" pattern is significantly larger than this one with three pockets and has a bound zipper that acts as a handle too. The Bionic Gear bag is similar but not the same. Take a look at both and make your own choice. I just discovered I didn't like sewing the layers and layers of fabric, batting, interfacing, and zipper tape! My Bernina 440 handled it like a charm, but it took forever to get things lined up to sew.
Oh well, you never know until you try!
