Renee, I don't think it's pitiful at all. We all started somewhere. I inherited a couple of trash bags of goodies that were mostly polyester and from the 80s being really generous...I found several treasures in there and kept a good part of it until I had to make room for my own choices. You're ahead of the game! Already organized and have plenty of room to add more!!!

I use a shoe rack also but that's where I keep all my scraps sorted until I'm ready to cut them. It has plenty of space and it's out of my way. PERFECT. I picked mine up at WalMart for less than $10 although I have seen them for much more----American Girl Catalog had one this past month for a mere $49 LOL----that's some fancy stiching on it.

Thank you for your kind comments, my stash may be small but I love it! I got mine at walmart too! Still trying to convince hubby that I need to build my stash! Right now I'm only buying fabric for planned projects (unless I see a real good sale, but shhh don't tell DH!)

I think a lot of us like to make a fresh start in the new year--and getting organized is a great way to do it. Retro-you have been an inspiration to us all---thanks for sharing pics of your stash and your tips for getting us off of our procrastinating rear ends and into that sewing room to get it organized!! Now, let's just see how long we can keep it that way!!

jacquemoe, it's actually supposed to be a shoe organizer...everything is a potential sewing room organizer LOL. I threw all the shoes on the floor of my closet and went mmm hmmm this should be about right. My DH saw me and followed me into the sewing room shaking his head and I didn't even see him!! It is just right!

The last time I was in my favorite LQS I noticed her beautiful wooden FQ organizer and had been thinking about it a while. When I first put it on the shelf, it sat too low so DH put 2 cement blocks just under it so it's flush with my counter top now. He's so good to me.
