I like the black in the center if each block and especially, the narrow black separator border and then to top it off, I really like the string triangle border. I saved it to my Quilting Ideas folder. I love string quilts. Have you considered "Dwirling" on the quilt top? I really like that quilting technique on a string. Here is the video on youtube for that technique. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgX4Ld_lFw8 It adds motion to a string quilt.

Thanks everyone for the wonderful comments! I had great fun making this string quilt and learned a few things along the way, too.
Dollyo, thanks for the link to the video. I'm not sure that i could "dwirl" but a soft wave repeated all over the quilt would be really pretty. I wish the video would have shown the whole quilt when she was finished with it.
Today is the day of the reunion. I will post again when we get home and let you know how it went .

Usually not a fan of string quilts but this one is beautiful-Really love the black & the half blocks makes it look different than most I've seen! Great job of quilting it too!

I've been cleaning up my "scrap" box the last couple of days and have a ton of strips now for my string quilts. As you say, the strings seem to multiply and I never make more than a small dent in them. But this is such a fun, mindless quilt to make and they always turn out unique and seem to be enjoyed by those receiving them. I do use the pattern to reduce stash, but I'm not a do it yourself quilter so usually send them out for a minimal charge. Do you quilt your own? I like your use of the solid inner border. Really makes a sharp looking layout....

Wendig, thanks for the compliment and yes I quilted this one myself. I do send some out to a LAQ, but this one i did myself. This quilt was originally supposed to have another black border and then a scrappy binding, but I forgot to add it. By the time i realized it, i already had the back cut to size. So i put a black binding instead. Next time - haha.
The quilt ended up being auctioned for the equivalent(sp) of $70. Not too bad.

A great example of a string quilt. I love any kind of scrap quilt, and strings are one of favorites. Yours is truly beautiful.
