The dissolvable thread holds the trapunto batting in place and remains in the quilt until you finish the final quilting. After you're done, then you soak the quilt in water to remove the thread. And yes, one month from start to finish! I had allotted myself this time to finish it and was pretty motivated to get it done. I stayed up till midnight last night to get it in the wash and partially dried. Now, I can start on the backup of quilts for others (9 mostly small ones right now).
