Default Sunshine BOM...finally caught up....such fun!

Well, I started learning to applique the beginning of May and found this BOM on line and thought it might be a good project to help in learning. I never would have believed it would be so much fun and that I'd enjoy appliqueing so much. I just got all caught up and I'm soo anxious for next week to see the August block. I guess I'll have to search on line for another project to keep me busy! Any suggestions?

I'm going to try and post the pictures of my blocks...bear with me. I tried last night and was unsuccessful so this is my second try. I haven't posted any pictures since the remake of the board....this wonderful board. I have learned so very much.....I just started quilting/sewing two years ago and would never be as far as I am without all the help from everyone one her......THANK YOU!

I am going to include a pic of a project I did in between these Sunshine blocks. I also found this applique on line and just loved it. Would like to find more like this.

Those are so cute! You did a great job!

Maybe someday I will try applique again. Did not fare well with it previously.

Those are really cute! I don't do BOM's I'm afraid that I'll get over it before the quilt is done! I'm waaay to ADD! That last block, with the flowers in the vase, is just adorable. Look online at pictures of flowers and use them to come up with your own designs. You are definitely good enough to start designing your own. You can use the same vase in different fabrics or after making a few, mix it up with your own creative ideas. I rarely ever use a pattern for applique any more.....just cut free-hand and have fun. Now that's the way to go when you are ADD (and just crazy enough to have creative bent).

Yes, Fleur.....that's sounds like a good idea....creating my own applique.....BUT you have no idea......I have ABSOLUTELY NO artistic skill when it comes to art. I have a hard time trying to pick colors for a quilt and the few that I have made have been "copy cats" from the board. I will have to work on it with the applique tho....maybe something will pop into my head when I look at some coloring book pages. Thanks for the post. Pat

Very cute blocks. I think I would put them together to tell a story kind of like "Goodnight Moon" only "Hello Morning" Wouldn't that make a cute children's quilt?

I'll have to wait till December when I have them all to put them together to make a wall hanging but I have no idea how I will do it. Maybe I'll get some ideas from some of the others that have done the blocks. Like I said I'm pretty new at quilting to start with and definitely new at applique. I'm thinking maybe I'll join them with some sashing and don't know if I'll want to join them in two rows of 6, three rows of 4 or four rows of 3...LOL....like I said, I'm a copy cat and will watch the board for ideas.
