Default Sunshine666 Baby boy Irish chain with Giraffe quilting by Feline

Sunshine666 is going to be a great aunt and I work with Grandma (Sunshine's sister). They know the baby will be a boy and grandma told me the nursery theme is giraffes. Awesome! I love giraffes

Sunshine made an irish chain in all blues so I quilted continuous curves in the 9P chains and 4 different giraffes in the same dark blue thread so they would show. I used coloring book pages from the net for the giraffes. I picked 4 different giraffes and repeated each 3 times, with 1 of each reversed so it was facing in the opposite direction. I can't pick a favorite they are all so cute! But I really like the walking one and the running one.

After quilting the giraffes and CC in the chains, I had some pretty big open unquilted spaces that were more than 4" apart which was my batting minimum. So I switched thread colors to match the background baby blue color and quilted continuous feather leaves (some call them molar feathers or Asian feathers) They blended in beautifully and just added a bit of texture so the giraffes still stand out. I had loads of fun with this quilt.

Techy stuff. The dark blue thread is Filtec Cairo cotton. The baby blue is Isacord. Bobbin thread is magnaglide prewounds in white (also from Filtec) and batting is Legacy 80-20 blend

    Here is the whole quilt

And of course it wouldn't be a post by me without the gratuitous back shot
