Superhero and Mickey Mouse Quilts - Christmas Gifts!
Thought I would post some pictures of the quilts I made for Christmas. The Superhero Quilt went to my brother... no, he's not a child, he's a grown man obsessed with comic books who attends every comic-con that's close enough to us! It's an adaptation of the free pattern "Fat Quarter Fizz" from the Fat Quarter Shop, made with 20 different FQs of comic book characters. I used the quilt-as-you-go method, SITD in each separate section and then joined them. It ended up quite large (around 60" x 70") which was necessary because my brother is a big guy! This is the first time I've ever made anything for my brother, and he was thrilled with the quilt which made me very, very happy.
The Mickey Mouse quilt was for his wife, my sister-in-law, who is really "into" Mickey and has been forever. The center section is a panel (purchased from Nancy's Notions) with some additional borders. This quilt is lap-sized; I think it ended up measuring about 36" x 40" or so.
Both quilts were backed with the same striped fabric, which was actually a sheet.
