Default Swiss Granny_59's MINI overtakes full size quilts at Canadian Fair!!!

... Red text ... because Swiss Granny_59 scored another FIRST at a Canadian Fair!!!!!
(for the previous story, see this thread ...
    http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...k-t201644.html

Yes, I took Ayubovan to another Fair on Thanksgiving weekend. I really hesitated about it, as there were no classes that it really "fit" into. There was a "wall hanging quilt" class which allowed large art quilts for entries ... yes it hangs on the wall, but against large quilts, I wasn't sure made sense. Then there was "applique, quilt" class, which included full bed size quilts. Again, I feared a disqualification because of it's miniature stature.

When I arrived, I asked the Convenors and showed the Mighty Mini with the 1/4" sashing and 3/4" dresden blades .... they became breathless and lost for words (and hard to believe that with these women!!). We discussed the pros and cons of entering in either class. Alas! we all agreed that it was "applique" ... so up against the BIG guys it went!!! Can you imagine the faces of many when they saw it win over the larger quilts?

A well deserved win, for sure!!!!!

    So Congratulations
Granny_59!!!!! ... you bask in the glory you so much deserve. It is such an honour for me to have shown this beauty, and to be the proud owner, too. I only wish you could have been here to enjoy it IRL!!

(and for any who wonder ... both times, I have entered it in Granny_59's name and country)

As an added thrill ... when I walked into the show hall, it was set right next to a runner that I had shown, and won a Red with as well!

I love that little quilt every time I see a picture of it on here. I know I can never do the mini version but I am becoming tempted to do a big one like it. The pattern is so sweet it just makes me smile.

I just can't wrap my brain around the sashing and dresden plate sizes. Unbelieveable! And so beautiful!

Wonderful! I think my favorite Granny_59 quilt is the bears in bed. Remember as you look at the pictures, that ALL the small quilts are minis! I get inspired every time I look at the photos

Thank you all so much and most of all QuiltE! At the moment I have a hard time to motivate myself to get done with the triangles for my DJ and all this praise is a big lift for sure.
