Taggie blanket - satinand minky oh my!
KariePatch Designs has a pattern called "Playmate" that I used as a start for this blanket. The 3D bow ties make a great place to hang a small toy. Minky is on the back and I used satin squares for the feel of them. I'm hoping the cotton will help stabilize this slippery stuff! (Every satin seam is sewn twice - most are once with a straight stitch and once with a zigzag.) The Playmate pattern calls for a 21" square, but I'm trying to get several out of fabric I have in my stash and think my grandson's brand name Taggie blanket was more this size - 14" square. Now I have to wait for a baby to give it to! I hope to make 3 like this (2 are done and 1 is nearly done), 3 with pink satin and minky, and 3 with green. I tend to get bored on multiple projects so we'll see if that happens!
If I know the baby receiving this I'll take some cotton, cut into a small heart, embroider the baby's name, and applique it on the satin square. I'm thinking raw edge applique and letting it fray a bit. If I don't know a name, I may stitch a heart in each satin square - they just seem to need a bit more control.

My grandson is 5 and had a Taggie blanket he cuddled until just recently. He also had a Taggie ball, but it was not such a favorite. I hope to sell some of these, but will reserve two - one pink and one blue - under the idea of "if you make them they will come"!
