I've made about 250 of them over the years or maybe more. I use clothing from family members and they become very well loved bears. My first was for my daughter in 1983 because her papa was hospitalized while she was expecting and being a high risk pregnancy she couldn't fly to CA to see him. He died a week later without her being able to talk to him. My husband brought home a shirt and I made the bear. She still has it and it's tear stained and crumpled, but so loved. They are wonderful to make.

What pattern do you use or did you make up your own? I need to make some for my children and grand daughters, out of my husbands' clothes. Thanks in advance for the pattern information.

Your bears are adorable. I recently made a baby quilt for a past co worker. It had appliqued bear cut outs. The frame and backing was paddington bear fabric. So I used left over pieces of the quilt top and made a matching bear. It looks more like a crazy patch bear. It was just two pattern pieces. One front and one back. So by cutting out 2 of each, it forms the complete bear. Very easy and quick to make.

Those are beautiful. Is there a pattern? I would love to try my hand at them. I Have fabric from my grandmother, who passed away recently. I would love to make some for the other grandkids.
