ok, here is my .02 cents...I would put a thin green border then a red binding. I think that would be really pretty. It is very pretty by the way :)

I'm not sure about the border. I think it will look great both ways! Very nicely done - your points are amazing!

Sorry, I can't help with the border question. I think it's beautiful. I can see just binding it or putting a border on it, either way, it's beautiful. I think if you think it needs a border, then you should put one on, it's what you think would look best. If you put a border on, if you don't like it, you can always take the border off.

LOVE it! Is it paper pieced? I think you'll have to put a border on it to keep the points on the edge, binding might come over too far (then again, I do my binding different than most..all by machine). I'd stay with the green to make the red really jump out!! You'll get more opinions than you know what to do with from all of us!!!  May I ask where you got the pattern and what its called? I think Christmas table runners and mats are just plain fun.

I would put a green border, then bind in red.

I agree with key4unc, a gold binding would be great.

:-) Good Morning everyone! Thanks so much for all the good advice. Here is the tally so far ...

binding color ... Red 2, gold 4, green 5, and none or not sure 4.
The add border is about even steven, I think.

Maybe I will just pull out the fabrics and audition them to see which way will make me happiest. I will try them all.

I tend to agree on adding a border to give the points a fair ending, with about an inch or so width.

Thanks so much for all your help. Please don't be upset if I don't mention every single one of your names. Just know from my heart I do appreciate your help and know who you are. ((hugs))

A note here though ... mommaB wanted the name of the pattern. It is called, "Poinsettia Star" #318 by Prairie Grove Peddler. No it is not paper pieced. It uses templets that you make from the pattern. I bought it from Windy Moon Quilts here in the reno area.

Yes, I would add a thin gold border. BTW, it's gorgeous.

(Just wish I could get motivated to complete Christmas gifts at this time of the year rather than waiting until the last minute which seems to be my "style"......)

I'm with the "add a border" group. Not sure about color.. perhaps just lay it on the fabric with a narrow strip showing around it so you can judge. That is BEAUTIFUL!!! I love it!!
