    Cool Template & Ruler Storage

I've been working on this with my dad (who will be 70 soon) for the last year. He lives in Eastern Washington and me in Southern California - so mostly via the telephone.

Well this is what he came up with! It showed up today out of the blue.

I'll let you know how it works out.

I'm confused, can't figure it out. Maybe pictures from other angles?

It's certainly an attractive piece. Good workmanship.

    Neat idea!

    Here's my take on it:
Handle: to easily move it around
    Green: pins/needles
    Slots: rulers
Pocket: anything else that you can think of

You know, if he added hooks then scissors could hang on the sides if there weren't children around!

    Wonderful idea-

    Hi Ginger!

What a great idea about the hooks! I can add those 3M hooks easily to the sides. He said he added the magazine style cubby so I can put my pattern/books etc there for easy reach. I may add custom pin cushion to the top green shelf! Thanks for the help. It definitely takes a village. I'm fairly new to quilting so everyones advise is precious to me.

Amybaby, it's special and I would use it all the time! Your father took time to think it through, to create what he thought you might like and how it would make it easier for you while quilting. I think he did a wonderful job! When my father was alive he did the same thing. We would talk about things and he would start to create. He worked alot in the garage and garden. It was probably to keep peace with mom!! But his creations were so loved and treasured that I miss them. I have several around my house that he made and they will always be treasures to me.

Take the time to fill it and send him a picture so he can see what a wonderful job he did!

Lovely piece of work! I get the green part for pins etc, and the bin is nice, but how many rulers and mats do you have? Will you stick them in the top and bottom slots at the same time? Or are the top slots for narrow small stuff? templates?

I'm hoping I can get hooks drilled into my metal framed cutting table. This looks like a work of art in comparison!

Wow, no wonder it took a year to design it! Hope you enjoy it!
